Their Story
Making a Difference One Day at a Time
Culture Club South Bay (CCSB) is built on a simple idea: real connection matters—but it’s even more powerful when there’s intention behind it.
We’re lucky to live here. In the South Bay, the beach, wellness, food, and community are all within reach. But for many kids across Los Angeles, those same experiences remain out of reach—not because of distance, but because access hasn’t been equally offered.
For generations, systemic barriers have shaped who feels welcome along our coast. Today, those barriers still exist in different forms—financial limitations, time constraints, cultural disconnect, and a lack of true belonging.
CCSB exists to help change that.
Through curated events and shared experiences, we bring people together in meaningful ways—while also using community as a vehicle for impact. Our goal is to open doors, especially for young people, to experience the ocean, recreation, and a sense of belonging in a place that should be for everyone.
We also believe in celebrating the people who make our communities stronger. From teachers and volunteers to athletes, activists, and local leaders, we spotlight “Community Heroes” who are making a real difference. Through Culture Brewing, we use what we do best—crafting great beer and creating welcoming spaces—to elevate these individuals while supporting local causes and charities.
At its core, CCSB is about building a more connected, inclusive South Bay—where everyone feels like they belong.

Those Who Came Before
Every year we lift someone up. Here are the heroes who shaped this community before them.
Educator + Casa De Luz
Casas de Luz, through its many volunteers, builds homes in Tijuana, Mexico and sleeping cottages for the homeless in San Diego. Over the past 20 years this all volunteer organization has changed the lives of over 200 families by providing them a home for their family. Together we bring hope on both sides of the border. Erik Johnson has been coordinating his sixth grade Skyline Elementary class on build projects for the past 15 years. These trips have been life-changing not only for the families that receive the home, but also for the local Solana Beach students whose lives are forever changed through this amazing sixth grade experience.
